Swathi Sukumar is a Senior Advocate based in Delhi, India. She has wide experience in intellectual property disputes, and in related arbitration and civil disputes.

In 2025, some of the notable matters that she has appeared in, include a dispute on the functioning of copyright collecting societies, and a trademark case in which the threshold of “confusion” required to establish infringement, was laid down.

She has been appointed as amicus curiae to assist courts on questions of law, including on the process by which trademark rectification proceedings could be initiated by the Court on its own accord.

She also acts as counsel and as an arbitrator in complex IP arbitrations, and is currently serving as an arbitrator in a trade secrecy dispute.

She has been consistently ranked by Chambers and Partners since 2018. She holds a master’s degree in law with honors, from Columbia Law School, and a law degree from NALSAR University of Law.
